The EGI Federated Cloud is a IaaS-type cloud, made of academic private clouds and virtualised resources and built around open standards. Its development is driven by requirements of the scientific community. The result is a new type of research e-infrastructure, based on the mature federated operations services that make EGI a reliable resource for science. The EGI Federation is an international e-infrastructure set up to provide advanced computing and data analytics services for research and innovation. The EGI e-infrastructure is publicly-funded and comprises hundreds of data centres and cloud providers spread across Europe and worldwide.

EU countries and countries associated with Horizon 2020, represented in the EOSC Governance Board, agreed unanimously to run the EOSC as a co-programmed European Partnership under Horizon Europe from 2021.

The proposal for a candidate EOSC partnership was published following a process of co-creating its vision including strategic and operational objectives to be achieved by 2027.

In July 2020, an EOSC Association was set up to provide a single voice for advocacy and represent the broader EOSC stakeholder community. This association aims to become operational by early 2021 and rapidly expand its membership.

The Virtual Digital Innovation Centre of the Kyiv Academic University (NOSC-UA DIH) provides digital innovation services for researchers, the business sector, and public authorities using cloud technologies and other advanced digital technologies:

NOSC-UA DIH was launched in 2021 as a non-profit project coordinated by the Kyiv Academic University (KAU) within the framework of the Targeted Programme of Scientific Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) “Mathematical Modelling in Interdisciplinary Research of Processes and Systems Based on Intelligent Supercomputing, Grid and Cloud Technologies” for 2021–2025.

In January 2024, NOSC-UA DIH signed an agreement together with another Kyiv digital innovation hub “Centre 4.0 Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (Centre 4.0 KPI DIH) and 12 regional partners to establish the “Kyiv HighTech” DIH, coordinated by the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance. In July, within the Digital Europe Programme call, the “Kyiv HighTech” DIH received international status as a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) from the European Commission.

Research carried out in the Department of Computer Computations Theory at ITP NASU originates from the foundational work of Academician V.M. Glushkov and his successors in the development of Algorithmic Algebra Systems (AAS) and studies in algebra of algorithms on algorithmic platforms based on systems of rewriting rules.

A special mode of algebra of algorithms with formalisation of programming processes and synthesis of computing algorithms and programs of various classes. The proposed method and tools for formal optimisation of programs from the aspects of forming levels suitable for their domains. On this basis, under the supervision of the department head, Dr. Sci., Prof. A.Yu. Doroshenko, algebraico-algorithmic methods and algebraic algorithm methods have been developed, including formalisation of the algebra of algorithms and horizontal discrete mathematics.
